Looking for a great wedding dj?
Did you know that the DJ can make or break your wedding? It's true, your wedding is a party, a celebration of two people coming together in union and usually lasts 4-6 hours and the dj is typically playing music and directing the event (MC'ing) most of the time.
Do your research when you are looking for a DJ to make sure you are hiring someone with experience.
A lot of DJ companies hire "kids" with "no experience needed" and pay them $200 out of the $1,000-$1,500 you pay the company? That "kid" probably does not have the motivation to show up and be professional with a $200 offering. Some one with no experience will most likely not know how to problem solve when issues come up, to ask the right questions, to play the right tracks that'll keep a floor packed all night.
You also want a DJ with top of the line equipment and knows how to set it up and use it correctly.
DJ's often become the event planner because they know what a good flow for a wedding time-line is.
You also want the DJ to be positioned close to the dance floor for the following reasons:
1.) Sound dissipates with distance
2.) The DJ needs to be able to see what is happening since they are often the MC
3.) You want to eliminate any hazards such as wires, cables, and speakers being in common spaces
4.) If the DJ has to turn the music up to compensate for distance the mic will feed back
